Your Mitchell Scholar Campus Official Profile
The Mitchell Scholars Program strives to make the competition as widely accessible and transparent as possible. To this end, we are building a database of advisors who can support candidates in the application process. We appreciate your registering and making yourself available to your students. Students are able to search for registered fellowship advisors in the "For Applicants" section.
You can see if your campus already has a listing by going to the "For Applicants" section of the site and clicking on "Find a Fellowships Advisor". This listing is not connected to the online application in which you can create a "dummy" account by clicking on the "I am an advisor" box when registering. If the information that is listed is inaccurate or out-of-date, and you do not have the username to update your institution's information, please email the Scholars program, and we will arrange to provide that information.
There should be only one representative listed for each institution. This person is usually appointed by the Provost and has responsibility for managing the nomination processes for other major national scholarships such as the Marshall, Rhodes, Truman or Udall Scholarships.
Advisors, potential candidates, and program support
Advisors and faculty are our front-line recruiters. We rely on your to nurture and support potential candidates. In order to assist you in these efforts, we are creating a set of resources for your use. In addition, we are offering a speakers bureau to bring a Scholar from a previous class or staff member ot your campus. Finally, we are harnessing social networking tools to facilitate communication. Both US-Ireland Alliance President Trina Vargo (@trinavargo) and the Scholars program (@mitchellscholar) have twitter feeds. We also maintain a Facebook fan page for the George J. Mitchell Scholarships program for potential candidates, advisors, faculty, family, and friends. You’ll find photos, discussions, events, and various other items of interest there.
