On 31 March 2011, one hundred people filled the Jack Rutberg Fine Arts Gallery in Los Angeles for an evening of poetry and paintings. The US-Ireland Alliance hosted a performance by Dermot Crowley and Dearbhla Molloy of Paul Durcan’s Give Me Your Hand, poems about paintings in London’s National Gallery.
Guests attending the event included actress Roma Downey, screenwriter and UCLA professor Jack Epps, artist Hugette Caland, producer Ted Kroeber, multiple Oscar Award nominee Peter Devlin, Mitchell Scholar Rebecca Blustein, animator Colbert Fennelly, composer and conductor Eimear Noone, as well as several art journalists and art collectors.
The reception was generously provided by Kensington Caterers. In addition to the performance, guests enjoyed the current exhibition at the gallery, “Some Assembly Required: Assemblage and Collage”, which included the works of Irish painter Patrick Graham.
