Andrea Laidman was a Mitchell Scholar (class of 2009) at Maynooth.  During her Mitchell year, she met Owen O Suilleabhain, an Irish musician who she will marry this summer.

Andrea is a student at NYU Law School.  During the summer after her first year of law school,  Andrea wanted to live in Limerick where Owen was.  She created an internship at Doras Luimni – an immigration NGO in Limerick.

Andrea found the internship valuable and got the organization placed in the NYU Law database for summer internships.  A few months ago, an NYU law student saw the opportunity and contacted Andrea, who put her in touch with the CEO of Doras.  That student will spend 10 weeks this summer doing legal work at Doras, at no cost to Doras or Ireland -- NYU Law has guaranteed summer funding for any law student who does public interest work,

Andrea hopes Doras will become a regular intern stop for NYU Law students.

Yet another way Mitchell Scholars are giving back to Ireland.
