Heathers to Perform at Oscar Wilde event
November 2, 2012: Dublin singers, Ellie and Louise MacNamara aka Heathers, will perform at Oscar Wilde: Honoring the Irish in Film in February at J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. Also confirmed is honoree Colin Farrell. More to be announced soon.
Heathers just finished recording their second album with producer Max Dingel (White Lies) and recently signed a global deal with Universal Music Publishing UK.
The first single from that 2nd album – titled ‘Forget Me Knots’ – was released through Warner Music Ireland in July 2012 with the album ‘Kingdom’ following in September.
Their debut album ‘Here, Not There’ garnered widespread acclaim internationally for its unique melodic hooks and extraordinary vocals. The album achieved Gold sales status in Ireland and received a further boost when they had the lead single ‘Remember When’ used on a major Discover Ireland TV and Radio ad campaign. The track in question was dubbed the “soundtrack to the Irish summer”.
The success of that debut album resulted in two summer length tours in the USA, which developed into further invites to perform at CMJ festival in New York, Canadian Music Week in Toronto, as well as European festivals such as Eurosonic, The Great Escape, Camden Crawl, Oxygen and Belsonic. Most recently they played as part of HMV UK’s Next Big Thing, performed a sell-out headline show at London’s Barfly and completed a sold-out Irish tour in October including their biggest Dublin headliner to date at The Academy.
They are looking forward to a return to the US in early 2013 where they are in demand thanks to songs from their brand new album already featuring in hit TV shows 90210, Mob Wives, The Voice and more.
