Katherine Boyle - Arts & Culture at the Washington Post
By Conor Ryan
Katherine, a reporter for the Washington Post, covers a wide range of social, political and cultural topics in Washington DC. She has interviewed and written about people from all walks and strata of life including American Vice President Joe Biden, Donald Rumsfeld, Kevin Spacey, Edward Norton, Philip Glass and a host of business leaders, fashion designers and other artists.
Katherine is a 2009 Mitchell Scholar who was inspired to become a journalist after her year studying Intellectual Property and Development at the National University of Ireland Galway. Living in Galway, she immersed herself in the creative community and was particularly engaged by Ireland's storytelling culture. Though she still maintains deep interest in intellectual property law, her focus is now on writing and telling stories, something she feels is at the core of Irish and Irish-American identity.
As a writer and journalist, Katherine is able to explore the legal, artistic and business issues which are challenging and shaping the media as the industry evolves in concert with technology. Regardless of the platform, Katherine will continue to create great content whether writing about the intellectual property rights of tattoo art, Washington politics or recording her daily news broadcast for washingtonpost.com
