Cassie Farrelly – Promoting Irish Theatre in NYC
By Conor Ryan

As Deputy Director of Corporate Services for the British Consulate in New York, Cassie assists the complex and highly sensitive logistics of international diplomacy. Cassie is responsible for operational support (such as finance, security and human resources) for a variety of consular activities including preparations for visiting ministers and publicity events. She also provides similar support for the UK mission to the United Nations.
Cassie is a 2004 Mitchell Scholar. She received an M.Phil in Irish Theater and Film from Trinity College Dublin. Cassie is passionate about creative writing and has authored a number of plays, short stories and novels. She spent much of her time in the theater getting to know the work of contemporary Irish playwrights, while also researching her thesis which examined the representation of immigrants in Irish film and drama. On her return to the United States she met George Heslin, Artistic Director of Origin Theater Company. Their mutual interest in Irish writing talent led to the creation of the Annual Irish Theater festival which has showcased the work of over sixty up and coming writers since 2008.
Whether in diplomatic or artistic circles, Cassie is always making or facilitating connections. In the future she hopes to work as the Artistic or Executive Director of a creative organization, thus allowing her to combine her creative writing talent with her extensive experience in the business and diplomatic worlds.
