Robbie obtained his BS in Computer Science/Pre-Med from Columbia University, where he co-founded and chaired CALL (Columbia for Awareness of Leukemia and Lymphoma), which raised money and conducted a campaign to register students as potential bone marrow donors. He also was the co-founder of the Columbia's Habitat for Humanity chapter, worked at the New Jersey Medical School in the Department of Pediatric Immunology, studying the effects of HIV on neurodevelopmental disorders, and worked at Bellevue Hospital's Department of Pediatric Infectious Disease writing a computer program for graphing and analyzing patient HIV data. As a Mitchell Scholar, Robbie completed his master's in Health Promotion from the National University of Ireland, Galway. He is currently in his third year of Harvard Medical School, where he helps run a mentoring program for children of victims of domestic abuse. He spent the summer of 2005 working in a hospice care clinic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Robbie is presently spending the next year in Israel on a Dorot Fellowship.
